The ongoing DSA takeover of the Democratic Party is a hot topic among conservatives. Many have come to differing conclusions as to what it means and why it’s happening. Some think that this makes Democrats less likely to win major state and national elections, citing that socialism and communism don’t appeal to large swaths of the electorate. Some think that it’s the product of demographic shifts, and that it’s the natural endpoint of importing large numbers of third-world immigrants.
There are nuggets of truth to each of these conclusions. For instance, Zohran Mamdani rose to the head of America’s largest city on the backs of immigrants and recent transplants, not longtime New Yorkers.
No matter the reason that the “far left” may or may not be ascendant, the real political implications aren’t all that significant. Sure, there are some differences when it comes to economic and foreign policy. The DSA pulls no punches when it comes to its dislike of Israel and constantly reminds us that “we just want free healthcare.” That said, anti-white discrimination and open borders are non-negotiable in the same way they are for nearly anyone with a D next to their name.
X user and political analyst Red Eagle Politics had a contrarian yet prescient take on the DSA discussion.
Firstly, I don’t want to give anyone the impression that the DSA isn’t radical and far left. They absolutely are. The point worth making is that there effectively is no such thing as a moderate or centrist Democratic politician. Establishment liberal rhetoric may be more measured, but they will absolutely vote for every crazy left-wing social policy that presents itself. For instance, you’d be hard-pressed to hear an establishment Democrat say that Thanksgiving should be abolished, as failed Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong famously did.
There are countless examples of supposed “moderate” Democrats signing off on legislation that would have been considered insane even to liberals several years ago. Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro is often considered a moderate. He has, however, signed several radically far left wing bills into law.
The same thing goes for Virginia’s “moderate” Democrat governor, Abigail Spanberger.
It’s simple: whether or not the Democrat who gets elected is a DSA member or supporter, or is cut from the same cloth as Joe Biden or Hillary Clinton, you still get left-wing culture warriors calling the shots.
DSA-affiliated politicians and so-called “dirtbag leftists” often like to dress up their preferences in Marxist, class-conscious rhetoric. They often talk about how the billionaire class is causing the current affordability crisis because of greed, and that government needs to seize and redistribute wealth to the proletariat. Almost exclusively, this means something entirely different in practice: class war rhetoric with the same gay race communism supported by the establishment. The following Tweet is evergreen for a reason:

This meme also sums up the faction of the left represented by the DSA:

In conclusion, if a DSA leftist gets elected, you get class war rhetoric that inevitably leads to open borders, expropriation of the white middle class, soft-on-crime policies, and destruction of traditional norms with regard to gender and sexuality. If a moderate Dem gets elected, you get rhetoric about being pragmatic and reaching across the aisle and how America is great but hasn’t fulfilled its promise. In practice, this leads to open borders, expropriation of the white middle class, soft-on-crime policies, and destruction of traditional norms with regard to gender and sexuality.
