Illegal Immigrant Gets 20 Days for Crash Killing Ohio Dad and Son

A Florida big-rig driver, a reported illegal immigrant who triggered a multi-car pileup on an Ohio highway that killed a local father and his 11-year-old son, received a 20-day jail sentence. Lima Municipal Court Judge Tammie K. Hursh ordered 53-year-old Yvio Michel to serve two consecutive 10-day stretches behind bars. Michel, a Haitian national living in the U.S. illegally while seeking asylum, pleaded no contest to charges stemming from the February 28 wreck on I-75 that killed 52-year-old Hurshel Gipson and his son Michael. Prosecutors offered a plea deal on two misdemeanor counts of negligent homicide and vehicular manslaughter after dropping other charges.

Trump to Canada: No More Airliner Sales to the U.S. Unless Built Here

President Donald Trump said Monday that Canadian aerospace manufacturer Bombardier would no longer be allowed to sell its products in the United States unless it manufactures them in the country. "NO MORE SELLING BOMBARDIER IN THE UNITED STATES!" Trump wrote on Truth Social. "Their products aren't good enough!" The broadside continues a months-long pressure campaign: in January Trump threatened to decertify Bombardier Global Express business jets and floated a 50% tariff on Canadian-made aircraft unless Canada certified several Gulfstream models; Canada later certified those Gulfstreams.

Iran Says It Will Announce New Restricted Zone in the Gulf

DUBAI (Reuters) - Iran said it will announce a new restricted zone in the Gulf in the coming days, along with maps of a new shipping corridor through the Strait of Hormuz, as a weekend exchange of strikes on shipping sent oil prices higher on Monday. The new restricted zone will begin from where the U.S. blockade of Iran begins and extend into areas of the Gulf, Mohsen Rezaei, the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, said on Sunday in an interview with state TV. Few details were provided, but Rezaei said any ship entering the new zone would be added to a sanctions list.

Today on July 4th, 2026, as we celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States of America, our semi-quincentennial, it is important to note how we got here, how we got from thirteen rebelling colonies to become the greatest country/nation on the planet, and what we must do to keep it that way.

The American Nation is Both Values and a People

When most people talk about what is the American nation, they often fall into two camps. The first says that the American nation is simply values like democracy, liberty, and freedom, that anyone can become an American, and a such, we should import millions of third worlders into the United States. The second camp says that the American nation is a people, a people that are West Eurasian genetically and Western by civilization, and in response to the first camps insistence about values, the second camp wants to replace democracy with a dictatorship.

But what if I told you both of these camps are half-right and half-wrong, that America is both a people and a system of values?

The American nation was founded by west Eurasians, by Europeans, by Westerners, and founded as a Western nation-state. But America was also founded on principles like democracy, republicanism, and liberty. The Founding Fathers and the brave Patriots of the Revolutionary War fought for these values. They fought for the establishment of a new nation, a Nation that would be West Eurasian in genetics, Western in civilization, Anglo-Saxon in culture, and democratic in government. And what that nation became was the American nation.

What Makes America So Great

U.S. National Archives

America became the greatest nation in the planet for two reasons: American values and the American people. When discussing American values, I mean values like democracy, republicanism, and freedom, values that made America unique at the time. These values are embedded into the American nation, which helped it become a state that did not need bloody coups and revolutions to change the government. The Founders thought ahead and established a perfect system of government: American Republicanism.

But the role of the American people itself must not be forgotten. Until the 1960s, America was a relatively homogeneous society. There were English, Scottish, Welsh, Irish, Frenchmen, Germans, Italians, Spaniards, Poles, Ukrainians, Jews, and Greeks all coming in various waves of immigration. But all of these groups were West Eurasian genetically and came from Europe, the beating heart of Western civilization, and as such it was easy for them to assimilate into American culture over three or four generations. This enabled America to stay united through all the adversities and obstacles we have faced. From the War of 1812 to the Mexican-American War, both World Wars, and the Cold War, the American nation still remained united due to this homogeneous makeup and the assimilation of these groups into the American way of life. This is what enabled America to become the greatest nation on the planet. This is what made America great.

What We Must Remember Today

As we celebrate today, we must remember not just that America is the greatest nation on the planet, but what made it great in the first place.

It was both American ideals like democracy, republicanism, liberty, and freedom as well as the American people, genetically West Eurasian and culturally Western, primarily Anglo-Saxon but also influenced by other nations (most notably the French and Dutch), that made this nation what it is. As we blow off fireworks. we must also remember that the importation of third worlders not only has to be stopped, but reversed, and it is necessary (in a peaceful, democratic, and civil fashion) to remove the primitive, hostile, and un-American elements of our society.

We have been fighting for 250 years to make America the greatest nation on the planet and it is foolish to think we should stop now and accept defeat. Defeat is never an option. Victory is the only answer, and we will Make America American Again!
