You know society is in trouble when a shooter puts footnotes in his manifesto.
So there was an incel attack with three people dead in Montreal, Canada. Did you miss it? In a bizarre twist of fate, the shooting reinforced manosphere talking points; a bystander who happened to be a Jew and a member of the Chabad was killed by a female cop. The other victim was a police officer named Mohamed. This all transpired outside the headquarters of Pornhub. The shootings offer the same hallmarks as many other shootings over a grievance. Though the latest is of a different denomination, it received very little mainstream media fanfare. The target was specific and not self-directed. The shooter Seth Hatfield’s manifesto reads much like what you would expect from a 25-year-old who spent an inordinate amount of time in any doomscroll Discord server. His methodical dissertation echoes Uncle Ted’s Industrial Society and Its Future. What is interesting is that the shooter lays out fundamental sex differences and the main culprits who, in his view, are behind the breakdown of monogamy. He articulates real measurable, real sociological issues no one dares to touch and correlates the dating market with neoliberal free market capitalism through a Marxist prism.
In the highly undiscerning world we reside in, any criticism of any kind is immediately dismissed as invective or hate speech. We are asked to find fault in nothing and to blindly accept everything presented to us. Society dictates what is to be repressed and what is not. So, what is being repressed? Everything but normal sexual relations and the plight of the working class.
Let’s face it: hyper-modernity has left men in the dust. Any grievances such as Hatfield’s has laid out receive the same boilerplate responses we would expect from both sides of the great divide, which can be summed up to blaming the shooter. What we have is the making of an extremist. Though the term has been beaten to death, men have devoted their countless hours, energy, and dedication to fixating on specific niches and studying who and why Western nations are on such a downward trajectory. Men are more focused on societal degradation for a litany of reasons. Hobbies are heavily commodified or regulated, no promising jobs with growth, everything is infected with woke/POS, limited to no real-life interactions, and the obvious, as in this case, not having a sexual outlet, which would subdue most negative feelings one may have about themselves or others. The extremist is an archetype or biotype shaped by the ecosystem in which he or she is immersed. Distorted by Pax Americana and deteriorated social units, i.e. family/friends, an extremist wishes to impose and control others using any means possible, including harming their opponents. Seth made himself the object and not the subject through his willful self-reduction and self-marginalization.
The controllers of civic institutions remain silent on the moral decay, mostly because there is money to be made. Those who decide which direction capital flows seem to be ensconced in enjoy watching young men engrossed in nihilistic content, thus becoming ever more neurotic and radical. One can argue it is a flex and “they” want men to consent to the decline since “they” receive no pushback from society at large. Extremist tendencies emerge as a moral failure of leadership and a strategic failure of resource allocation. To understand just how morally bankrupt our institutions are or grasp how the system perpetuates the very same problems they wish to solve deeply frustrates their capacity for understanding the psychological genesis of anti-social extremists. Extremism is not about tactics or behavior. It is the psychosocial dysfunction that breeds anti-social tendencies.
As for his manifesto, there is an overemphasis on looks, and here lies the fact that Seth, 20 years old and like many others in this age bracket, has never had a serious conversation with a father figure or listened to someone he admires about women. You won’t die because you infrequently have sex or never have had sex at all. The more you spend time around women, the more you realize they are just “there.” A man can gain emotional sustenance from friends and family. The problem we face today is that women as a whole have taken men for granted and assume someone will always be there to serve as a safeguard whenever an issue arises. As for men, they put too much emphasis on seeking validation through sex or women as objects of desire. It is safe to say all men are noticing a disturbing pattern of women giving themselves away to the dregs of society and both the trad-con right and feminist left expect well-adapted types to “man up” and enjoy the leftovers.
Those 30 years and younger have relied solely on social media as their basis for reality. As Sigmund Freud once said, “Despite my 30 years of research into the feminine soul, I have not yet been able to answer…the great question that has never been answered: what does a woman want?” There is more evidence suggesting the contrary to “looksmaxxing,” as Instagram and alike only provide a half-open window to someone’s life. No one ever takes a photograph of something they want to forget. A kaleidoscopic view is needed to understand the current state of male-female discourse, which can be put mildly as sexual anarchy, where the worst of female nature is actively promoted. Though it is important to note that social media and pornography has radicalized both sexes in different ways.
A modern woman derives her sense of uniqueness from the simple fact that she exists and derives her sense of existence from the belief that she is unique. But in order to do so, she requires outsiders to reaffirm this, as there is no such thing as bad attention when a nation’s pathology has narcissism deep-rooted in its character. Both attention and seduction become addictive. Naturally, boredom (a form of transmuted aggression) and anhedonia set in once the going gets routine. Routine is counter-narcissistic by definition because it threatens her sense of uniqueness. Social media acts as a perfect prop because it allows women to present a calculated persona. It provides an illusion of emotional normalcy, and in America, we use social media as a yardstick of normalcy. Women conflate romance with an increase in their status. They would not consider anything romantic without video evidence or witnesses. Same reason couples pay thousands for a wedding photographer. “Did it really happen if strangers don’t validate me?”
Pornography is abundant and free for the most part. There isn’t a day that goes by, speaking for myself, where if I were to go on X or even YouTube, I’m not bombarded by sexual imagery. You cannot escape it. The most important point to grasp is that the people most harmed by pornography are not the women who make “content,” but the male end-users: porn whores are exploiting these men, not vice versa. Heard the term “paypig” before? Only male sexual substitutes carry moral and social opprobrium. Sexual imagery today is used as a weapon. Few know that pornographic images were used as a distraction or psychological tactic during the 2002 Israeli–Palestinian conflict; there was a widely reported incident in Ramallah during Operation Defensive Shield. Trying to get information on what was going on, people turned on the television only to be inundated with sexual imagery, which most probably had never seen before. We can only imagine how many men were glued to the TV screen. What is most alarming is no longer the days of pornography with a half-assed storyline or in the back of a van. Porn today is shot in luxury; women engaging in outright depravity in locations once reserved for people of high status. Infinity pools, private beaches, seven-figure condos in Miami, all plushed and tidy. The “Dubai Porta Potty” phenomenon comes to mind. This signals to young, impressionable women that they, too, can enjoy a few nights on a yacht, so long as they engage in whatever is asked of them. Pornography has become a love substitute for the lack of viable options for men. It is better to beat one out than to deal with an insufferable woman.
Society walks a fine line reintroducing shame into culture. Shame has been expunged as a social tool, and thoroughly so. In a society as transvaluated as America, the technique of shame is used to protect the shameful, just as the technique of intolerance is similarly deployer to shelter the intolerant. If we were to look at China, for example (which is mentioned in the manifesto as being inoculated against affluenza), shame is the primary tool for controlling the nouveau riche. In 2010, actress Ma Nuo became well-known nationwide for her comment on Fei Cheng Wu Rao, a dating game show. A male suitor of modest background asks if she would go on a bike ride with him. Ma’s response was, “Rather inside BMW car crying, than be on top of a bike laughing.” After its airing, the show’s ratings climbed, and its critics grew louder and more numerous, calling it a frightening window into the degradation of social values. Her statement on live TV drew the attention of government censors, who eventually forced producers to redesign the show’s format to promote healthy pair bonding and ordered the cancellation of many other dating reality programs. As for Ma Nuo, she was cyberbullied and a social pariah, never to recover from her comment. The Chinese Communist Party has a repulsion towards unbridled capitalism. On average, one Chinese billionaire is either executed or commits suicide every 40 days. 17 percent of people who appear on major Chinese rich lists eventually end up in court proceedings or in jail. Whatever happened to Jack Ma?
Seth writes:
In the present times, it is now the case that practically 100% of attractive girls in Western societies do indeed belong to the bourgeois and middle classes, having been lifted entirely out of the blue-collar sphere. Lots of them simply go through life with the greatest of ease, and since the culture and institutions of the hypergamy state inherently favour them, they easily attain relaxed and lucrative white-collar careers that require very little work, while additionally, a great number of them become models, actresses, and musicians.
Mega-cities (glamour zones) such as NYC, L.A, Boston, etc., have become cauldrons for barren women. In New York City, for example, estimates from demographic research, roughly 20–25 percent of women in NYC reach their early-to-mid 40s without having had children, compared with about 15–17 percent nationally. The promise of a Sex in the City-style life mostly involves working jobs that do little to advance economically or culturally, and, in most cases, the opposite. It is a pipeline from college which straight-up brainwashes (polishing them for corporatism, removing any religiosity from their moral framework, and depositing rote learning) them to move to a megalopolis in an attempt to fulfill the perpetual Disney dream. They leave behind family and friends and, in due time, develop a persona not suited for motherhood, let alone for wives. Women’s sexual instincts do not obey the principle of rationality: the more a woman has achieved herself, the greater the stress she places on finding a mate of still higher achievement. Black-and-white thinking. It is either the hedge fund bro or the fur mommy life. The disheartening aspect of it all is that women would rather be in solitude than be with the opposite sex who cares for them. This is counter to what millennial and younger generations were raised to believe, such as “she will love you for who you are” or, more importantly, “in sickness and in health.” What will become of these women without an extended family around them? What if the bottom were to fall out economically or in civil war? These women would be left in the most unimaginable positions.
Men who stay put, uninterested in relocating to a major city and working close to where they come from, are usually scavenging for any viable options for dating or marriage. Eventually, despair sets in. Sex is the prime motivator for men, not money. This is something we have simply ignored for the sake of female empowerment. The long run of it all is social engineering women to basically emulate men, rendering the genders neutral. This is one of the pillars of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, something we had forgotten all about post-COVID.
Seth certainly seemed to realize how unconstrained capitalism and female empowerment make great bedfellows. Economically, women make the decision in purchases of 94 percent of home furnishings, 92 percent of vacations, 91 percent of homes, 60 percent of automobiles, and 51 percent of consumer electronics. Does anyone ever mention women’s affinity for doctors and medicine? A hill not worth dying on, I assume. Men tend to dampen the brakes on spending and know that tomorrow is uncertain, even more so now than ever. The modern female possesses a limited emotional time horizon, failing to grasp the concept of tomorrow. Anyone else find it such a strange coincidence we were taken off the gold standard and the credit card was introduced at the same time as women’s sexual liberation? My interpretation of his convulsions is poignant, yet undoing what has already been done calls for general restrictions on both the ease of money flowing into private institutions and the subjugation of women to more “traditional” roles. This wishful thinking, in my opinion, will only come about if and when North America receives an external threat, a major and sudden economic downturn, or some form of religious totalitarianism, none of which seems realistic or likely to happen anytime soon.
The more men come to grasp the magnitude of the decline, the sadder the decline becomes. Seth Hatfield, a young man from rural Canada who drove halfway across a continent with no healthy outlet for his energy, thrusted himself to the absolute margin of society to demonstrate his commitment to the voiceless and anti-degeneracy. His fixation on degeneracy is telling for it does not expose his objections to the status quo, but it’s nearest to his heart. He could not forgive himself for participating in the orgiastic degradation of the Western soul.
