Illegal Immigrant Gets 20 Days for Crash Killing Ohio Dad and Son

A Florida big-rig driver, a reported illegal immigrant who triggered a multi-car pileup on an Ohio highway that killed a local father and his 11-year-old son, received a 20-day jail sentence. Lima Municipal Court Judge Tammie K. Hursh ordered 53-year-old Yvio Michel to serve two consecutive 10-day stretches behind bars. Michel, a Haitian national living in the U.S. illegally while seeking asylum, pleaded no contest to charges stemming from the February 28 wreck on I-75 that killed 52-year-old Hurshel Gipson and his son Michael. Prosecutors offered a plea deal on two misdemeanor counts of negligent homicide and vehicular manslaughter after dropping other charges.

Trump to Canada: No More Airliner Sales to the U.S. Unless Built Here

President Donald Trump said Monday that Canadian aerospace manufacturer Bombardier would no longer be allowed to sell its products in the United States unless it manufactures them in the country. "NO MORE SELLING BOMBARDIER IN THE UNITED STATES!" Trump wrote on Truth Social. "Their products aren't good enough!" The broadside continues a months-long pressure campaign: in January Trump threatened to decertify Bombardier Global Express business jets and floated a 50% tariff on Canadian-made aircraft unless Canada certified several Gulfstream models; Canada later certified those Gulfstreams.

Iran Says It Will Announce New Restricted Zone in the Gulf

DUBAI (Reuters) - Iran said it will announce a new restricted zone in the Gulf in the coming days, along with maps of a new shipping corridor through the Strait of Hormuz, as a weekend exchange of strikes on shipping sent oil prices higher on Monday. The new restricted zone will begin from where the U.S. blockade of Iran begins and extend into areas of the Gulf, Mohsen Rezaei, the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, said on Sunday in an interview with state TV. Few details were provided, but Rezaei said any ship entering the new zone would be added to a sanctions list.

ICE nabbed nearly 2,200 illegal migrants, including convicted murderers, rapists and drug traffickers, in New York in the past month alone — and more agents and sweeps are on the way, the feds said Tuesday.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency caught up to 2,197 criminals in the Empire State between July 27 and Aug. 29 as part of “Operation Rotten Apple” — which Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin noted was conducted “with no help” from either New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani or Gov. Kathy Hochul. “These arrests included gang members, rapists, murderers and child predators,” Mullin told reporters at a press conference. “Operation Rotten Apple did what sanctuary politicians in New York City and the state of New York refuse to do: made the Empire State safer.”
